Not What You Imagined

This artwork is based on the Story of Three Trees. Each had an ambition - to be a sailing ship, to be the tallest tree in the world and to be a treasure chest.

In the end, they became a fisherman's boat for Jesus and his disciples, the cross, and a manger for him respectively. Each achieved something important but not in the way they imagined.

My work shows people aspiring to reach their goals in life. But disruptions and detours  happen along the way. Eventually they succeed but not in the way they imagined.

Of Roots, Vines & Fruits

The bible verses John 15:5 and Galatians 5:22-23 are the basis of this artwork.

They use the analogy of a tree to symbolize God's relationship with Man, God being the roots and trunk and Man, the branches. A fruitful relationship  will result in good values such as faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, joy, kindness, love, patience, peace and self-control.

Using elements of wood, paper, and string, I try to visualize this beautiful relationship in this piece of work.
